Title: Te Ahu a Turanga Noho Marae

Description:  In week 7, we had an overnight stay at the local Marae in Woodville.  We were immersed in Maori culture and participated in a range of activities.  We set two goals to focus on during our stay.

Big Idea:
1.  Did you achieve your goals?  How do you know? I achieved my goal cause I tried the new food and I helped people that needed help.

2.  What are you most proud of from the marae stay and why? I'm proud of me staying away from my family from a long drive.

3.  What challenged you the most and why? The thing that challenged me the most was the gorge walk because it was hard to get up the step hills.

We have been learning about transformation.  We have specifically learnt that...

  • translation is when an object slides in any direction;

  • rotation is when an object is turned around a central point;

  • reflection is when an object is flipped and has a line of symmetry.

Our challenge was to design a car badge that contained at least one of these aspects of transformation.

Feedback. I think your drawing is good. And I like how it has a line of symmetry. From Zach
Feedforward. Try make your drawing have some things in side it not just on the out side. From Zach.

Evaluation: we had to make a car logo that had a line of symmetry or translation. Reflection od rotation.

Story writing

Purpose: create a story to share orally

Description: Oral storytelling is a Maori tradition. We have been planning our own story to tell on the Marae in Week 7.

Big idea: this is about how things were made like how the sea was made or why are there clouds.

Feedback\feedforward: I think your planing was good but you moved around a bit to much.

Evaluation: my story was quite hard at some points but the rest it was pretty easy. When I planned it out it was fun but when I did the actual thing it was tricky.
